The Same Joys and the Same Sorrows - a reader.

November 2024
This reader was created over two sessions in November of 2024 at the Old Quad on The University of Melbourne’s Parkville campus - Generated in collaboration with the Buxton Contemporary front-of-house team and facilitated by Amy May Stuart and Isabella Hone-Saunders.

The reader came about after an invitation to engage with the individual work and practices of the FOH team from Buxton Contemporary, as a parallel to, or divergent from, professional development, the intention was to value each employee as creative and artistic practitioners and to create time and space outside of the working environment to do so.

Together we participated in two half-day workshops. The workshops were designed and facilitated by Amy May Stuart and Isabella Hone-Saunders. The readers were hand-bound by Amy May Stuart.

Across the two sessions, the group ate together, read together, shared knowledge and insights on their varied practices, found common interests and then designed a DIY reader that reflected the sessions as well as the contributor’s practices and combined them. The only limitation being a maximum 10-page contribution.

Contributors: Anthea Kemp, Amy May Stuart, Camille Cargill, Christopher Theofanous, Xingyu Li - Echo Li, Genevieve Elliott, Isabella Hone-Saunders, Maddison Wandel, Marcela Gomez Escudero, Mia Palmer-Verevis.

The reader is available at the Buxton Contemporary bookshop.
